“Everybody is a genius. But if a fish is judged by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.” — Albert Einstein

Frequently Asked Questions and Additional Information:

How much time does it take to complete?

The My Genius Profiler takes roughly 20-25minutes to complete. You’ll see helpful insights within minutes. Deeper profiles build automatically as you use the app over time — no extra effort required.

What ages is My Genius for?

Best suited for 4–15 year olds — when early understanding and support can make the biggest difference.

We believe in the child, not the deficit.

My Genius is built on a simple but important distinction: there is a difference between who a child is and what gets in their way.

We have no interest in making neurodivergent children more convenient for neurotypical environments. We do not believe autistic traits, ADHD profiles, or sensory differences are flaws that need correcting. We believe they are part of the rich, legitimate diversity of human neurology.

What we do believe is that every child deserves to have their unique profile understood — by the people who love them, teach them, and support them. And that when a child is finding something genuinely hard, understanding why is the first step toward making things better — not by changing the child, but by changing what surrounds them.

That means better strategies at home. More informed conversations with schools. Clearer advocacy with support services. And environments that are shaped around the child — not the other way around.

We also know this doesn't happen overnight, and that while the world catches up, families need practical tools for right now. My Genius is that tool — built in the spirit of acceptance, and in the service of access.

Will this replace a professional? Do I still need help?

The My Genius Profiler is a bridge, not a replacement. My Genius helps parents:

  • Advocate clearly with teachers and providers
  • Arrive at appointments more prepared
  • Get earlier guidance while waiting for assessments

Created by a psychologist who wanted families to feel empowered, not alone during long waitlists. Better conversations → better support → better outcomes.

Will this tell me if my child is autistic or has ADHD?

My Genius is not a diagnostic tool and won't tell you whether your child has a particular diagnosis. What it will tell you is how your child is currently functioning across the key skill areas that matter most for everyday life — things like attention, emotional regulation, social understanding, and executive function. Many families find this gives them something even more useful than a label: a clear picture of their child's strengths and a practical plan for support, whether or not a formal diagnosis is ever part of the picture.

Will this tell me if my child is 'normal'?

My Genius doesn't use a "normal vs. not normal" framework — because we don't think that's a useful or accurate way to understand any child. Every child has a unique profile of strengths and support needs, and the goal of My Genius is to help you understand your child's profile clearly and specifically. That said, we absolutely understand the anxiety behind this question. If you're sensing that something feels harder for your child than it seems to be for others, My Genius can help you name what you're observing and understand it — which is often the first step toward feeling less stuck.

I already feel overwhelmed — will this be extra work?

At My Genius, we know that life is already full. We need less stress, not more. The My Genius Profiler is quick to complete — the most important insights appear immediately, and strategies are ready to use. Designed from real-world clinical experience — knowing parents need fast clarity and wins within minutes, not more tasks. Small effort → big relief.

Am I a bad parent if my child is struggling?

Absolutely not — and we want to say that clearly. The parents who come to My Genius are, without exception, parents who care deeply. The fact that you're here, looking for understanding, is itself an act of good parenting. My Genius isn't a tool for judging parenting — it's a tool for building understanding. When you understand your child's profile, you stop second-guessing yourself and start responding with confidence. That shift changes everything.

I’m nervous about sharing my child’s personal information.

We use secure, encrypted storage — with parent-controlled sharing. Created by a healthcare professional who must follow strict privacy and ethics standards (AHPRA regulated). Your child’s data is safe and protected.

What if I don’t understand the information?

Everything is simple to understand, visual, and translated into plain language — with step-by-step strategies for home and school. Expertise in family-centred practice ensures insights are always communicated clearly and compassionately. You’ll understand your child better — instantly.

I don’t want to waste more money on things that don’t help.

Every recommendation is clinically informed, actionable, and based on what actually works with children like yours. Built from almost two decades of clinical assessment and intervention experience, grounded in a meaningful blend of science and a range of lived experiences, and translated into easy everyday tools. Not guesswork.

How is this different from just Googling my child's behaviour?

Googling tends to pull you toward diagnoses, worst-case scenarios, and generic advice that doesn't fit your child. My Genius works the other way — starting with your child's specific profile and generating strategies that fit them. It also gives you language to use with schools, therapists, and support teams, so you spend less time explaining and more time actually getting support.

I’m worried this will label my child.

The My Genius Profiler is founded on a neurodiversity-affirming approach that highlights what makes your child brilliant — while clearly explaining support needs. Developed using strengths-based therapeutic frameworks and co-designed with lived experience voices, so identity and confidence always come first. We want children to feel understood in a meaningful way, not defined.

Shouldn't we just accept neurodivergent children as they are?

Yes — and we want to say that clearly: neurodivergence is not a problem to be fixed. Autistic, ADHD, and otherwise neurodivergent ways of thinking, perceiving, and engaging with the world are valid and valuable. My Genius is not built on the premise that neurodivergent children need to become more neurotypical.

What My Genius is built on is the belief that every child deserves to be understood — and that understanding is not the same as trying to change someone. When a child finds certain things genuinely hard, understanding why helps the people around them remove barriers, adjust environments, and build the kind of scaffolding that lets the child access more of their own life on their own terms.

We also believe strongly that society needs to change — that schools, workplaces, and communities need to become more inclusive, more flexible, and better designed for the full range of human neurology. My Genius supports that too, by giving families the language and evidence to advocate for those changes for their child.

Support and acceptance are not opposites. You can deeply accept who your child is and want to make their path easier. That's not about changing them — it's about changing what gets in their way.

What if this doesn’t apply to my child?

The My Genius Profiler customise insights to your child’s strengths, challenges, and real-life context. Designed by a registered psychologist with extensive experience across autism, ADHD, anxiety, giftedness, and a wide range of developmental profiles — ensuring children of all kinds are recognised and understood.

Will this work even if my child doesn’t have a diagnosis?

Absolutely. My Genius focuses on skills and behaviours — not labels. It’s helpful at any stage of the journey.

My child has already been assessed. Is this still useful?

Yes — and often very much so. Formal assessments are excellent at identifying what's present diagnostically, but they often don't translate into what to do on a Tuesday morning when your child is melting down before school. My Genius bridges that gap, turning profile insights into everyday strategies. Many families and professionals use it alongside formal assessments for exactly this reason.

Can this be used for NDIS planning?

Yes—My Genius offers an optional NDIS-focused report that translates insights into clear, practical recommendations. This can support goal setting, planning conversations, and advocacy with greater confidence and clarity.

Who can take the profiler?

The My Genius Profiler can be completed for children, adolescents, and adults, making it a flexible tool across the lifespan. Whether you’re a parent, support worker, educator, or an individual seeking clarity, it’s designed to meet you where you are.

Can this help with communication between home and school?

Yes. Profiles and insights can be shared to get everyone on the same page quickly and respectfully..

Is this a diagnostic tool?

My Genius is not a diagnostic tool, but it provides powerful, strengths-based insights into how your child or client thinks, learns, and functions. Many families and professionals use it alongside formal assessments to better understand needs and take practical action to meet those needs straight away.

Is My Genius evidence-based?

My Genius is informed by research across neurodiversity, executive functioning, and emotional regulation. It also integrates clinical experience and lived experience to ensure insights are both evidence-informed and practical.

Is my data safe and confidential?

Yes, your information is stored securely and handled in line with privacy and data protection standards. We prioritise confidentiality and ensure your data is never shared without your consent.

What will I actually get at the end?

You’ll receive a personalised report outlining strengths, key skill areas, and practical strategies to meet your child's unmet needs that you can use immediately. The report is written in clear, parent-friendly language and can be shared with educators or therapists.

Will this tell me what support my child needs?

Is this a one-time purchase or ongoing?

My Genius is designed to be simple and accessible, with a one-time purchase for the profiler and optional add-ons like the NDIS report.

What if I’m not sure this is right for me?

If you’re unsure, we recommend starting with the profiler to gain clarity on your child's strengths and overall profile. Many families and professionals find it provides immediate value and direction.

When will I see results?

Your personalised report is generated directly after completing the profiler. This means you can start using the insights and strategies straight away.

How is this different from other assessments or tools?

My Genius focuses on strengths and real-world strategies. It bridges the gap between understanding and action, helping you know exactly what to do to respond to your child in a way that meets them in a meaningful way.

Will this replace a formal assessment?

No, but it can be a valuable complement to formal assessments. It provides practical insights and strategies that are often not included in traditional reports.

Do I need the main My Genius Profiler Report before the NDIS Report?

Yes. You need to purchase and complete the My Genius Child or Client Neurodiversity Profiler before the NDIS Functional Impact Report can be completed.

How do I get the NDIS Report?

Once you have completed your child's survey and have their individual My Genius Multidimensional Neurodiversity Profiler Report, you can then purchase the NDIS Functional Impact Report from the Resources Section within the My Genius App. Our team of psychologists will then review your child's report and complete an individual NDIS Functional Impact Report and send to your nominated email on the My Genius App profile.

Can I use my NDIS funding for this report?

Yes. If you have NDIS funding for psychologist services, and are either self-managed, you can purchase this report and claim the funds back from NDIS as this service is completed by one of our registered psychologists within our My Genius Team. Please contact us directly via email (theteam@mygeniusprofiler.com.au) to obtain your child's NDIS specific receipt for claiming purposes.

Will this guarantee NDIS funding?

No. The report cannot guarantee NDIS funding as we do not work for the NDIA. However, our reports are designed to be aligned to their support categories and are detailed to provide the specific information the NDIS are considering when planning funding allocations.

How long does it take to generate the NDIS Report?

Typically between 24-48 hours.

Can I share this report with schools, therapists, or coordinators?

Yes. The information within the NDIS Functional Impact Report can be very useful for schools, therapists, and coordinators who help you plan out what supports and adjustments your child may need.

Finally — clarity about your child’s needs.
